Operation Santa Claus

Hi guys, been a while, been very busy with the new company I'm working for.

I'm helping out/volunteering this year with 'Operation Santa Claus', which is an entirely charity based operation looking to provide gifts to the Canadian troups overseas (in Afghanistan and Iraq) as a sort of 'thank you' for all they do. For alot of the guys over there, this will be the only gift they recieve this year. For others, they're likely to trade with other soldiers, and even distribute them to the children in the cities they are stationed.

On my way home last night, I was thinking of ways I could help out, and one way I thought was to round up a bunch of CDs that I own and send them over, as well as some new t-shirts I had made up. Then I got to thinking, with all the artists I know, there might be some interested in sending some over as well, since it would benefit them to be heard, and get them a bit of exposure to.

So, this is open to everyone, and if it's okay with the mods here, I will provide an address that stuff can be sent to. Anything that is non-perishable will be accepted, my thought was CDs, but anything else (t-shirts, mugs, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

So far we've collected thousands of decks of playing cards, t-shirts, ball caps, models (the kind you build), books, etc.

If you're in the Calgary area, there's a spot in the Calgary sun about this today. I think the tentative deadline is next Friday, so everything can be packaged up, passed through customs etc. then shipped out.

Lemme hear from ya!

W.

I don't have a problem with this, and I don't think any of the admins wil either.

Nope, nothing wrong with posting it Waldo. I'm pretty sure dB will be good with it also.

With the boys Scouts here I get involved in several things like this. We do the Toys for Tots thing as well as a few others. We generaly do an adopt a family thing were our PLC goes out and buys gifts for a family that needs help. Usually single mothers and the like. My favorite is a gig put on by the city at the local grade school. Its called Santas Helpers. I get to dress up like Santa and usually get the senior patrol leader and his assistant to dress up like elves. Its amazing to see the look on the little kids faces when Santa is actually coming up to talk to them and give em candy canes and the like.
