So, i just bought the M Audio Project Mix, and i love it. its amazing and definitley a step up from my original Presonus Firepod.
anyways i can get the project mix to function in Cubase, and in Sonar 5, but i dont know how to configure the ProjectMix to communicatre with Pro Tools 7. I am learning pro tools as i go along. i know the VERY BASIC commands and such.
with the others i had to change the ASIO Drivers to the ProjectMix one's, how can i do this is Pro tools? maybe that might be the problem?
and are there any video tutorials that can teach me Pro Tools by the way?
Thanks

Sep 02, 2006 03:44 am Yeah. its really good. i love it alot.
i mean comunicate like changing faders up and down dont show, and play and record buttons dont do the actions.
but in all other programs it works..
Sep 02, 2006 11:18 am but everything else is working in it, like u could record thru all the channels and stuff to pt?....its just the control surface feature that ur not getting to work? ............... i think in the project mix manual it says how to change from cubase mode to sonar mode to pt mode..........im not sure i just browsed tru the manual in the store i think i remember seeing that, and its maybe a setting in pro tools u got to config. too....im not sure, but if u didnt read the manual, u should.....i know a couple engineers who turned pro just by reading manuals and being assistants in studios, and they never took a class...lol...manuals are powerfull

Sep 02, 2006 12:18 pm You need to either open a control template or assign each control in PT by right clicking and choosing the automation control. I would imagine that the PT that came with the hardware should have been pre configured to run with it. IF not that is pretty lame on their part.

Sep 02, 2006 12:23 pm And you should be able to load the ASIO drivers in any of the applications. Asio is really the best choice for latency being reduced and such.

Sep 02, 2006 05:52 pm maybe im wrong, but i read somewhere the M Audio Project Mix is only compatable with Pro-tools M-Powered, and not Pro-tools LE. Are you using M-powered or LE?
maybe?
congrats, that thing looks like a beast of a machine. good luck

Sep 02, 2006 08:17 pm Good catch melty, I didn't even think of that. Although PT 7 should be able to learn or have a template built for working with another control surface. I know in Sonar I can teach Sonar to work with any control surface built. It is probably a matter if digging in and finding or building a template for it.

Sep 03, 2006 01:32 am Yeah i'm using PRo Tools 7, Mpowered, with M audio's Project Mix IO..
it detects it. and i can record with it. but after i put it in pro tools mode PT dosnt communicate when i use the sliders or press the play button.

Sep 03, 2006 12:34 pm I would suggest hitting the M-Audio site and trying their knowlegde base for info or hitting their customer support to find out what is going on. There is no reason it should not work in M-Powered if it is working in other applications.
Are you sure everything is running the latest updates as well such as drivers and firmware updates and the M-powered PT software is updated as well?

Oct 01, 2006 07:08 pm Are you using a mac or windows?
I have had this problem with a mac. You have to go to:
Setup>Peripherals>midi controllers and select
Type=HUI
Send to and receive from to prjctmx cntr.
Hopefully that will help.
Oct 26, 2007 11:29 am well i've already got one of those I/O and works with ProTools MPowered AND Protools LE. The difference is that only comes with the MPowered Protools setup :P
