So that's what an OHM is

So I was searching topics to try and find this answer, but none of them seemed to cover the specific problem.
I've been using the MOTU 896HD (firewire) for about 2 weeks now, and it's worked fantastically. But all of the sudden, this morning, I found that there was no discernable audio coming out of the headphone output. I tried different adapters, headphones, and stereo systems, and got nothing.
I tested the Main Outputs and they still work fine, but the issue is that I currently can't afford good monitor speakers, and usually just mix out of a balanced computer stereo. Audio is still reading, the unit seems to be in perfect order, except for the lack of sound out of the headphones. I'm using Sonar, by the way. Any help anyone can give?

Jul 12, 2006 03:39 pm False alarm! Seeing as I can't delete the post, I figured I'd just let anyone know. It turned out on the actual ASIO panel I didn't have the headphones mirroring my Main Outs. I guess that's what manuals are for. Sorry about that.

Jul 12, 2006 08:28 pm Hey no problem. It might give someone else an answer to their question on the same thing.
Jul 12, 2006 08:55 pm No suprise, glad you got ot figured out. My old 896's (s) both developed a problem over time where the volume knob began to act as both a pan pot and a volume knob at the same time. Yup. When the knob was all the way down to the left, there was a slight leak into the left phone, then as it turned up is became balanced and louder in both, then when cranked up, it faded out of the left and into the right with full volume. Howz that for some crap. I have entirely replace the unit with a refurbished one for $180 direct from MOTU. The old 896's straight up have weird problems after about 3-4 years of use !
