i have a tascam 414mk and am thinking about getting a 564.Will the 564 help blend my vocals better or should I consider some good effects?

either way you still only have 4 tracks...the only major differences I can see from a quick glance are the functions that come withany digital unit...easy looping, marking and such. None of which will help vocal blend better, regardless of what you actually mean by that (we could use some clarification).

Sorry for being unclear about my vocals...The vocals I'm recording are too hot or bright.Kinda hard to describe. The balance between the vocals and instruments is fine. The vocals just don't seem to be a part of the whole.Does being to hot or bright make sense? Should I be using a compressor or some other effect? Thanks

Yes, you should use a compressor, that will even out your recorded signal. I looked at your profile to see if you had one, but alas, your profile is not filled out (naughty, naughty :-).

I compressor and possibly some reverb or EQing could help substantially. Compression for sure.
