Hi all, just got done posting several songs in the music section. It'll link through to my Yahoo site, and from there you can see the files. It's all really old stuff for me but there are some neat songs on there. Funny, none of them sound like each other, they all sound like they're from different bands... hahaha Different phases of ability and different levels of interest in different genres, I guess. :) Check it out...

I like Crooked Man :O) It's different. Very off the wall. Thanks for sharing, I'll try and listen to them all by the end of the day. So tell me. If I create a Yahoo "group" will I get the 20 extra megs to store stuff? I already use geocities and have 15MB thru them, but that's only a couple songs. I'm still looking for affordable (free) file hosting. -j

I like Never To Walk This Path Again! Satriani? Yes. But very well done. You were a talented 6stringer then, I'd love to hear what you can do now. I also rather ejoyed the reversed guitar track throughout the last 2 minutes of the song.

Thanks! I'm not entirely happy with the recording of "Never to Walk"... I had so much going on in there, so many track bounces... the mix just gets so muddy, that is has no real definition. That backwards guitar too - if I could go back and change how it comes in on the note a half step below where it should, I would. :)
"Crooked Man" - the master recording itself isn't actually even totally finished... notice the little jog between the end of the 2nd verse and the start of the 2nd chorus. I used cool edit to hack out the first chorus and just pasted it in. Ah, digital... the icing on the cake, the cheese on your steak...

To answer your other question, about storage.... I understand the dbmasters site has a very fine and fairly priced storage/streaming service geared towards this kind of thing. If you have the cash, it's better to pay to play, because you do get what you pay for in terms of web hosting. The free stuff does tend to have a cheesy look to it that you can't get rid of.
FYI - yes, you can juryrig Yahoo Groups to do your bidding, but you only get 20mb. You can however, create many many groups for this storage, so you could have many 20mb accounts that you link to from another page. You just have to make sure your groups settings will allow non-members to view the files.

The big plus in the "pay for play" world of hosting is that you don't have to deal with banner ads placed by the host. Yahoo, Tripod and all those other free ones require some sort of banner add saying "hosted at yahoo!" or something. WHich, regardless of how nice your website is, those ads scream "amateur!" or "cheapskate!"

When you pay you only have stuff on your site that you actually want on your site.
