will this mic and pre amp work with my pc?

i went searching thru the threads and couldnt find an answer to my question

im thinking about going with the mxl 990 condenser mic with an art tube mp pre amp and i wanted to know if the preamp can be directly conected to my emachines pc or will i haveto buy a certain soundcard the pre amp is compatible with?

You can plug that preamp right into your sound card in the PC, just be aware of the limitations of that card (and eMachines in general) in terms of power and performance...you won't be able to get away with very many tracks in a song or it will start choking.

thanks, n i only use about 4 to 8 tracks n only use the computer for music makin so it should be ok...

You will also want to make sure you can run the eMachines sound card in Full Duplex Mode as well. If you cant, that means you will not be able to hear previously recorded tracks playing back while you record a new one.
