So here's the song:

Make sure you listen all the way through (as with most of my songs, I like to surprise people at some point in the song) :-)

EDIT (5/27 at 1:50pm): I just got an idea, and updated the mp3 with the new stuff.

I tried listening but I can't access the file, apparently my browser doesn't like savefile.com.

It should be working. I uploaded it here also, but it will be slower:

Nice uke sound you got there. Kind of starts out sounding back a bit then comes forward, intentional or not it works. I like the little chime thing as well, nice simple touch. The main vocal is nervous sounding, intentional I am sure. The chorus part kind of jumps and grabs ya. Then the second go round of chorus when the bass starts jumps even more at the listener.

I liked the arrangement overall, you kept it interesting and the mix is pretty good. It would be hadr to really rate it as it sounds as you were going for just what you got. All the instruments seem to have their place in the mix so I can think of anything to work on with this one. Unless you have something in particular you are concerned with I would say ti sounds pretty good to me.

Thanks for the response. These are what I'm somewhat worried about:

1. does the key change work? that is one of the focal points of the song, and i want to be sure that it sounds good.

2. there is some buzzing on the bass, because my bass is old and crappy. is there anything i can do to reduce/eliminate the buzz? you can hear it when the bass first comes in

3. the left channel piano sounds dry, or mabye a little too loud. thoughts?

I thought the key change actually flowed rather nicely. Almost unoticed really, for most folks I am guessing it would just kind of go by them as an interesting part of the tune.

The bass, I actually found it had interesting character, not a bad sound at all. But I think that kind of blends well with the Uke thing going on before it gets there.

The piano, well maybe a hint of reverb might help it along. But I really wouldnt go overboard with it as the tune really kind of holds its own with the simple sound you have going.

Show me to the beer....

Interesting and rather cool tune Mike. I particularly like the beginning of the song and the last run through of the 'chorus'

Did you ever listen to lou Barlows early sebadoh stuff? Reminds me a little of that..I like, nice one.
