Hello, this is this a new song and probably the last i'll record for a few months. Its the last song on the demo album i just finished and i'd really appreciate feedback as usual.

I'd really like to thank all those who've taken the time to listen to my stuff and post comments over the past few months. Very much appreciated. This place is by far the best community for HR and has been a big help the past year or so....

Special thanks to Noize who doesn't seem to let a post by anyone slip by without taking the time. Respect....

Cheers all

I like it! It reminds me a lot of The Album Leaf (which is a good thing). The guitars meld so well, how did you record/pan them? The voice fits very well in terms of frequencies also.

My only minor suggestion is that there seems to be background noise sometimes. Mabye try noise reduction? (unless it's intentional)

Oh, nevermind, it's a demo, hah, my bad.

Mike, I think some of what you might be hearing is from the NWR player. I dont get any here on my rig through Win media player.

Mac, the guitars sound great, there is a slightly differant overtone present in this track. Much cleaner and crisper it seems, maybe just me. The seperation is very apperant as well on this track, sound very good and gives the guitars a very full sound. The bottom end is just right as well on the guitars, nice and smooth.

This isnt an absolute must either, just something to listne a little closer to. The sibalance on the C, D, G, S and T's gets a little accentuated here and there. Did you use a pop filter on the mic? It isnt really bad but with a little boost in the upper mid's I can make it very hearable. You might want to try it on a system that boost's the high's and see if you can hear it. This may all be the mp3, but in most cases the mp3 will kind of mask it. I suggest burning it to CD and trying it on a couple other systems to see if you can hear it. IF not then no worries on that one.

Overall, I loved the tune. Very nice flo to it as usual for your stuff. And the vocal as well sits real well in the mix. I like the way you have your vox sounding in these mixes, makes it very interesting and sets it apart from the guitars.

Oh, and thanx for the compliments. I try to get to most all the music posted here as I love to hear what others are doing, no matter what the genre.

First off great sound and playing on the acoustic's and the song has a nice flow and melody to it. The vox I think could be sung with a bit stronger delivery they just sound a little too soft to me which is probably more just personal preference but they are done well. The mix is very good. Very nice tune for those quiet moments.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

Mike, Theres definately more background noise on this than most of my other stuff, probably bacause there's 3 seperate tracks of live acoustic? I tend to hear the noise more on my home stereo which is quite detailed but elsewhere its not so bad.

Theres two tracks of the same melody recorded on my acoustic individualy and panned off 10 o clock/ 2 o clock, then a second melody on acoustic added at 11 and a electric guitar with a vibetto effect at 1 oclock. The playing, as with most of mine is very simple, layered melodies.

Noize, did use a pop filter but maybe didn't pay enough attention in eq ing out or making them softer in the singing. I mic'd the guitars closer than usual and further down the fretboard which explains the crispness i think..

Dan, i tend to agree on the vox, but i did a take with more punch in the delivery, just didn't fit the song so i sung up close and soft.

Cheers for listening

I meant more specifically how did you mic the guitars? XY? right shoulder? just one mic at 12th fret? what kind of a room and how far from the guitar?

Mikender, just the one mic, about 5th fret, pretty close up (say 4inches) My room is 5m x 3m, laminate wood floor, no treatment.

cheers
