so i was experamenting the other night, and i wanted to add grittynes to the vocals, i usually set up a subtle distortion on an aux buss and mix to taste, but this time i threw a small room reverb before the distortion, to my amazment, this added a really super cool quality to the vocals, without bluring the clarity of the actual vocal, picture a room with walls with nothing but tv-like static in it the trick here is be very very subtle, too much verb or distortion will throw the sound way outta wack....anyway, i thought i'd share.
