MIDI problems - real time playback, reseting

a few problems have cropped up in my midi set up:
My system:
keyboarf as trigger, midi out into delta 1010lt, using windows built in SW synth as out.
recording in cubase - midi in set to Delta 1010lt, out set to "Microsoft GS wavetable SW synth".

Problems:
i cannot hear my keyboard play in realtime - the signal comes through and will record onto the desired track, but i cannot hear the sound in realtime.

if i play back the recorded midi data, it will play but if i change the patch while it is playing or i play a note on the keyboard, the sound dissapears aurally (the signal still comes up on the mixer) and i have to change the output to not connected, then back to the SW synth to get it play again.

i know it isnt the SW synth, as i have another one on my comp by soundMAx that does the same thing, so i am completely stumped. ne one with ne ideas on this subject please help me

quick fix that i do is unplug your keyboard's midi output when you changes patches, then plug it back in when you're done....you sending CC (control change) messages when you change patches.

Sounds like WYD has the right idea on what is happening.

Are you trying to get you keyboard to playback the sounds via midi? If that is the case the sequancer is probably doing what WYD stated, resetting the patch when you push play, or it might be doing a full reset on stop.
