Line 6 tone port quality question

I have decided to buy a line 6 tone port ux2 based on alot of good reviews and information i have recieved. I was wondering how the quality of this would match up to the quality of a device say like this emu card?
www.thomann.de/thoiw6_emu...dinfo.html#fpix

Im not in a financial position to buy one of those emu cards at the moment but i just wanted to use it as an example to see how the quilty would differ if I payed a little more money for something. Does the toneport give you professional sounding guitar recordings?
Thanks!

As usual i need the opinions of people here. Should i stick with the toneport or spend a bit more money and get the emu device? Just so everyone is clear I will be recording drums, guitar all instrumets really. I also want a devide i can connect my behringher mixer to ( i know i can use the "line-in" ports on the line-6 for this. Which device does everyone think is the better choice?
Thanks again!!!

I use the UX-2 and love it. The E-Mu card has had some serious driver issues as well as stability issues. And the included software from what I have heard is a pain in the arse to make function, let alone figure out how to use it.

Honestly though the Line 6 UX-2 has many benifits that the E-Mu card does not have. It not only does the PODxt models but as well does bass amp models and several high end mic pre-amp models that are absolutely stellar. And it includes lots of great FX as well. It includes the Ableton Love lite version which is a very capable recording application. The only thing it does not have is midi i/o.

But if you think you will get use out of all the extra digital connectivity of the E-Mu unit you may want to look that direction as well. But for straight up value and analog or USB audio the Line 6 UX-2 is a great unit.

I have the toneport ux-1 and I also love. I used
it earlier today when I was recording my band. The pre-amp models sound great on a lot of things. The guitar models are great too. There are a whole bunch of presets that can get you close to a certian tone and then they let you tweak it to perfection. Not to mention its fun just messing around with all the different setting and such. The bass models are also great.

WEll i think i will stick with the toneport so. I dont really plan on using midi any time soon anyway so i dont think that will be an issue for a long time. And is definatly ok to connect my mixer to the toneport usint the line-in ports? I just wanna make sure coz i dont want to buy the wrong device!

If I am not running it via USB direct that is how I run it into my oterh interface is through the desk, so you will be in the same boat.

Well i was planning on running the tone port directly into via the USB and connecting mixer to it. Would this still work?

I spent a week with Presonus Inspire and toneport. a/b ing all the way. the Inspire was probably better for direct recording, cleaner, higher quality easier to use.

However the Toneport is just way cooler with all the effects, combo's, split signals, reamping options etc

Iv checked up on the Presonus Inspire since reading about it here. Iv considered getting one of these instead of the tone port. How does the line 6 recording software compare to the cubase software with the presonus?
In general which do people think i should go with?

have read a different post in the forum i think i will stick to the tone port based on the pros and cons i read.
Just wondering though, will i be able to record semi-decent drums through the toneport by connecting my own mixer to the toneport using the line-in ports? I can use my own various drum plugins i have.

Yes, you will be able to record decent drums without any problems. Your mixer will simply hook to the line in's of the Toneport and your all set.
