Thast weird... i enjoy adveritising and i think its a very integral part of keeping the world running, the freedom of choice and the freedom for business' to show off their goods. And i think alot of advertisements are works of art. But "forcing" people to watch them would be weird. But you can choose at teh beginning of teh show whether u want commercials or not... who would choose to have them though? Raises alot of weird questions. But everything would be REALLY expensive without advertising

Actually, without the huge advertising budgets from companies products might likely be less expensive when companies don't have that massive overhead.

I was talking about things like national television, newspapers and the such, things that actually get most of their revenue from advertising. And in theory yes products would be cheaper, but only for a certrain amount of time and luck, coz if a product couldnt get itself known enough to match costs, then it would have to have a higher price. plus theird be less market competition since newer unestablished companies wouldnt have much chance to fight the big boys.
Majorly IMO

I think anything that inhibits channel surfing in america is a lost cause...

If your flipping though channels and hit one playing an ad, you'd be stuck until they get back to programming which you are likely to discover you don't like so you'd flip again until you ran into another commercial segment at which point you'd get frustrated and shut it off.

aghh. Youre right Zek, I would just rather not watch TV in that case. Thats one of the big reasons I got XM. In my 30 minute drive to work I would hear nothing but commercials on the radio or DJ chatter.

Back in the day buying TV watching with cable or satelitte meant you don't even get commercials, now, if I am paying for my TV via Dish Network (which is my provider) they BETTER provide me an option to disable that or they will be loosing a customer.

Sometimes, the commercials are the best thing on the boob tube.
