hey guys. I am using a multi track recorder to put my mixes together and I am have problems with the eqing. For example I am currently working on a mix which contains two instrument going into one line in on my multi tracker (these instruments are coming from one source)and this is where I am having a problem with the eqing. The single source that is providing the instruments has individual out jacks so that it will allow me to split up the two sounds, but my multi tracker has no more available inputs. Should I split up the sounds and run them into another mixer and then run that line to the multi tracker? Also, what are good lo,mid, and hi eq ranges for synth vibes, and synth keyboard? These are the two sounds that are being supplied by the single source.

Anything will help thank you!

The low/mid/hi type EQ is pretty worthless, what I think I would try to do is get a stereo 30-band EQ unit, which you can find used quite cheap generally, and EQ them before the signal gets to the recorder. Run each instrument thru a different channel of the EQ.

The 30-band EQ,is your best bet.

Another alternative is to record each of those sounds in a seperate pass, so you can put them each on their own track.

I agree though on the 30 band EQ as well. It will allow you to run each of the synth outputs into a seperate EQ channel and then do the summing to the recorder.
