hi, i use to sonar xl dxi synths to play my midi files which i make with a separate program called guitar pro, but when i make a midi file which has tempo changes and drop it in sonar, sonar does not recognize the bpm change and keeps playing at one bpm, also i cant get sonar 4 to recognize the beat changes either, but the midi files play fine with the correct bpm changes in windows media player

you have to adjust the tempo map and tell it at what measures the tempo changes.

Indeed dB has it spot on. I'll go a little deeper for you though and explain why it doesnt see it.

Guitar Pro saves the file a certain way. Sonar does not see anything but the midi info when you import the midi track. That midi info does not contain tempo information or any other info besides the note on/off, velocity and so on.

As dB stated, you will need to go in and set the tempo map in Sonar to make the correct timing changes when needed. Then save it as a native file format in Sonar and Sonar will remember everything from that point on.
