Mar 28, 2006 02:48 am I've never used these (or any other drum mics) but they don't look bad at all... Of course, don't make a purchase based on me saying something doesn't look bad.
Mar 28, 2006 10:37 am Haha, no I wont but thanks for your input. Ive heard alot of good things about them but it just seems like too good of a deal for 8 mics and i tend to look negativly on things so im just double checking before I spend the money.

Mar 28, 2006 12:28 pm I use the Samson mics myself and I'm pretty impressed with them especially in a live settings. I have a six piece set, 4 q-toms, 1 q-snare and 1 q-kick. The bleed from them is very minimal and the tone is very impressive. Only problem I can say with them is that the mounts are plastic. They're pretty sturdy once attached and the mics don't move around too much (if I had rack mounted toms I'm sure there would be almost no movement). I have broken a mount, the bottom claw when removing it from one of the toms on a tare down once, pretty much that is the only thing I would say sort of sucked about them. If you wanna check out what they sound like you can goto www.freakattraction.com/Gone.mp3
Let me know what you think?
Oh, I bought them off of Ebay for $110 US shipped to my house, so check out Ebay, there usually a deal or two on these mics.

Mar 28, 2006 12:36 pm heh, thanks Tadpui!
yeah you can hear the tom's and overheads in my profile, i'm pretty impressed with the CO2's (SDC)...the kick and snare were 'ok' but i've got better mics for those applications, so i never use 'em.......for a 'all in one kit' they're definately worth a good look at. oh and the mounting is VERY user friendly.
cheers

Mar 28, 2006 09:35 pm I use a pair of small diaphram condensor's from them the C02 model and they are great for the price. I cant say they are equal to something much higher priced but I can say they sound great in the right applications.
And I have heard some good things about their drum mic kits. If you get a chance I suggest seeing if a music store has a set up and give them a listen.

Apr 01, 2006 08:54 am My band uses the 5 piece set and they sound great, both for live and recording. They get alot of what we hear from our drums and are all around solid mics. Ive never used other brands drum specific mics honestly, but i have no complainst about our samsons. Just one thing, the clips on the tom mics and such broke REALLY fast and easily. Basically now we just tape those things on... so just watch out for taht.
Apr 01, 2006 01:38 pm Samson Mics are ok,if thats all you got to use.
but I would Rethink on it,and pick up a set of AKGs,the D112 kick drum mic is a must on that foot.It can handle 168dbs of spl with NO distortion at all, and the 418 mics are just as cool, they can handle 140dbs.and don't forget if you got them to use Sure Beta57 and 58s.
I hope this has helped you out.
