I have a Delta 66 which has a cable that goes from the card(joystick port) to the breakout box. My question is how can I use that card for MIDI or am I stuck with my SB Live, buying a MIDI interface, or daisy chaining gear?

either daisy chain or replace the breakout box with their omni box [same card]. i think its the omni.. could be the quatro though.

The Delta card can't do midi, kind of a bummer. I guess I should ask how many piece's of outboard midi gear do yo have, and how many do you plan to add. The SB midi port is ok for now, depending on how many differant instrument's you need to ;lay at once. Remember, the SB is only 1 midi port, which give's you only 16 midi channel's out. If you don't need more then 16 sound's at once you are ok, but if you are like me and compose with an entire orchestra, and then some you will definately need a bigger interface. I will highly recomend any of the MidiMan interface's. I was a devoted MOTU (Mark of the Unicorn) user untill Cubase's dongle started messing with the drvier's for my interface. I have now swithed to MidiMan's USB/MidiSport 8x8/s and have not been happier. It has not skipped a beat, and it actually does not choke the way the MOTU used to under heavy note load's. It also has a better selection of mode's than the MOTU did. so if you are planning on adding more synth's and using more then 16 instrument's I would expand with a bigger interface. The 8x8 give's you 8 port's which means 128 channel's of midi. That's 128 differant instrument's playing at once. Like I said, a whole friggin orchestra.

Thanks guys. I was checking out the midisport 8x8 USB and now I think I will have to spring for it(when I get the cash of course).

YOu will love it. I have been very impressed. I crashed it once, my own fault by the way. And to re install it was like a 30 second job, unlike the MOTU stuff that took 20 minute's to get all the crap in.
