Hey everyone, I've posted a couple of pre-published tunes (scratch-tracks) from our upcoming concept album on our site. Check 'em out if you get a chance and let me know what you think. Please keep in mind that these are pre-published so there are likely to be minor issues with all of them.

Oh ya, watch out for the language on track 2.

Ya, thats the messed up way that myspace seems to work. I'll remove my old tunes from my profile here and post a couple new ones.

edit: OK, I added a tune to my profile. The song is called Today Will Never Come. I tried to link directly to the player but I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for the listen,

I got the myspace link to work. All the stuff sounds nice. I really liked "gonna be that way". sounds really full of energy. the vocal harmonies are well done and the drum sound is huge. Only complaint I have is that during the solo, the lead seems a little to loud right at first. otherwise nice stuff

Hey thanks for listening Josh. Big confession on Gonna Be That Way. The drums are a backtrack that are going to be replaced. Matter of fact the drums on all the songs are being recorded right now so the canned drums can be replaced. Everyone seems to like that song so we are bringing it back to life (we shelved it for awhile). It was basically a result of an improv jam so we didn't pay much attention to it at first.

The idea is that we get all the songs for the album "down on paper". Then we record the drums (for real) and start re-recording the guitars/vox etc over the newly recorded drum tracks. We're not really sure if this is the "correct" way to do it but it works for us as it allows us to get the ideas out of our heads.

I got the player to work as well, lucky me. I know myspace loads the player slowly allot of the time. I just reload the page a few times, or wait awhile and try again.

Today Will Never Come sounds splendid mostly. The drums could maybe be a little more up front, they are punchy and all just alittle quiet. But guitars, bass and vox are right there in the mix. Nice tune as well, very kool.

The Best of Me is a rockin tune for sure, but then again I'm a sucker for instrumental stuff. Love the guitars, very nice spread in the stereo image of them. The bass seems a little far back, but that could be the player on myspace. The drums again were lacking some presence. They sound like they have the punch they need, just not up front enough in the mix, almost muddied sounding. Again the player could be to blame on that one.

Cant do it to Me T... sound great as well. Was that a synth or was that a guitar with a mod filter on it for that little tweak wah sound. Interesting delay on the guitar as well. Are ya gonna add drums to that one or leave it like that. Either way, kind of a 60's feel, very interesting. I liked the odd percusive sounds in the background.

Gonna be that Way, OK now the drums are up front the way the others should be. The bass is very punchy and travels along real well with the tune. The guitars are sitting pretty will in the mix. Love the lead part, very well placed. The vox might be just a tad too up front, nice harmony behind the chorus part. To bad it isnt the full tune.

Over all I liked all the tunes, nice arrangment's and very well played.

Hi Noise,

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it and respect it.

Today Will Never Come - I have a feeling that the player on myspace is causing the drums to sit back a bit to far. I will be tracking new "real" drums for this tune on Thursday. Even with the canned drums however, it seems to sound better on the Soundclick player.

The Best of Me - Same thing here. I think the player on myspace is making this sound a little thin on the low end. This song may get a total re-arrange so that we can line up some lyrics a little better.

Can't Do It To Me - That wah effect is a guitar using a funky setting on my Digitech modeller. I'm not sure if we will add drums to it or not. I'm almost thinking of leaving it as is or putting in some light percussion like an egg shaker or something. Nothing has really come to mind so far.

Gonna Be That Way - Originally this song came out of a improv jam. We were just messing around. A lot of people like it though. We sort of thought that it was a little too typical. We will be totally redoing this song from the ground up. You didn't hear a full version, 'cause that's all we got so far :) Actually, we do have the lyrics for the entire song but they were written after this was recorded.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Ya know I agree on the player thing. Because sometimes the files are OK, then the next time not.

Either way, I dug the tunes for sure. CAnt wait to hear what you end up with for the EP.
