this is about extract timing on sonar 3, i can get the midi signal but i cant get my own .wav sound inserted , trying to use it as drum triggers and use my own drum sounds.
I have NO experiece w/ midi
from what ican tell i have these plugins:
dream station dxi2
eridol vsc
v sampler 3 dxi
cyclone
some i can tell they read the midi hit and some i cant, some i can get to play one of the plugins preset sounds at each midi note but i cant get any further.
i hear your the guy to ask
if velocity = the volume of the hit, i want them all the same, is this possible

sorry if this is unclear, i dont know midi at all

HEy bt, sorry to be late here.

OK, what you will need to do is get the synth rack to open either V-Sampler 3 or the VSC. I think as well Sonar 3 came with the Velocity drum synth as well, but I would have to look tommorrow to be sure on that one.

Anyway, to get you started let the synth rack open both a midi and the synths audio track. I would suggest starting with the Edirol VSC as it has a drum set right on channel 10 allready and will get you going faster.

Now after the extract timing find the midi notes you want, simply paste them into the mid track for the VSC. You can go in and tell the extract feature to set them all to the same velocity or you can edit that in the piano roll as well. Then you have 2 choices as for what note it will be you paste in. Either tell it exactly what note you want in the extract timing or after pasting them into the midi track, go to the piano roll and select the notes you wish and move them to whatever note you need.

Hope this will get you started. Tommorrow I will try and make time to open S3 and see if I missed any details.

bt, if you can hold tight till Friday or Saturday I will open Vsampler and look up the path for importing as its been awhile since I have used V-Sampler now.

I think if you open the import wav option it will have a dialog that will guide you through the process. I believe you can set the base not the main sample will be on, as well as how many notes it will play through and what the transposition will be for each semi tone up or down you go. Then once that is done you simply open it up as if it was a regular V-Sampler sample and you should be good to go.

I'll check back on the thread to see if you figured it out, and if not I will try and guide you through it.

As well I will see if I can find one of the freeware sample players out there that might work for you for the drums.
