Feb 08, 2006 12:21 pm It's hard to replace a 57, commonly referred to as the swiss army knife of recording. I believe every studio needs 5-6 57's.
However they are not for everything or everyone.
The e609 sounds good on snares and cabs. I've used the ATM23HE on cabs and toms and loved the low end response, but I have never tried it on a snare. And I am unfamiliar with the d22.
