Ive been looking for some ways to increase the volume and brighten the sound of my recordings so it doesnt sounds so dull and lifeless. I've been looking into these:

www.behringer.com/DSP1424P/index.cfm?lang=ENG

www.bbesound.com/products/maxim/482i.asp

www.bbesound.com/products/maxim/newplugin.asp

waves.com/content.asp?id=160

Does anyone have any experience with these? Do they help alot with what I'm looking to improve? Are they complex to use? Any other recomendations? I have a Mac so I can't use that HarBal program I see everyone talking about. Thanks alot.

I have a BBE and i use that sucker on all my electric guitar and bass tracks . I tend to use waves L1, L2, and L3 (plug ins) while i'm in the computer but BBE makes some solid gear. One of my oldest prossesors and man I love it.

How are the tracks as individual pieces? Are they good sounding to start with? You might be having some issues with certain tracks all sitting in the same space EQ wise. In other words, to many tracks all with the same midrange EQ and it is mudding itself up when they are all combined together.

Fixing that would only require some EQ work on the individual tracks before you mix them down. But in the end with the stereo mix I will use Waves L3 MultiBand to set things pumping. But the BBE is a wonderfull tool as well. I use an older 822A for bringing vinyl or cassette in to be redone.
