Anyone ever hoid of 'em... used one ?

us.hercules.com/products/...amp;b=1&f=1

... they're currently being offered at a 'very reasonable'(read: sickly-cheap) price from a 'certain outlet' .

The specs look pretty clean, but nothing beats real-user feedback . Anyone ?

Never laid a finger on one, but I did see this in the new MF catalogue and I remember chuckling to myself thinking "where the hell has Hercules been all this time?" The last product I remember seeing form them had to have been 10 years ago, and it was an old PCI video card (even then it was old hehe). I had no idea they were in the PC recording biz until I saw that "blowout" on the last page of MF staring at me :D

I dunno what I'd expect from that interface. I just have visions of 16-color graphics displays struggling to keep up with the demanding framerate of Pitfall...

Can you say, M-Audio knock off?

How cheap is it really Hue?

Yep, they were big in the video hardware thing for awhile. I suppose with everyone and his brother making audio interfaces now they figured they would join in. They are now owned by Guillemot and I suspect they are building off shore if they are that cheap. I would definately be warey, but hey, cheap is as cheap does.

heh Yeah... $299 at MF .

I know... ESI, or even M-Audio would prolly be my best bet . I guess I keep looking at these 'other' firewire cards, 'cause I'm thinking that the noise coming from my compy is from the output of the 24/96's hardware, or it's pci-relation... either the ins, or outs... still more tests to do . Hell, I'd be happy just 'fixing' it with another card .

It's driving me nuts, Paul . I have so much to get done this year... cowriters are being very patient... heh, it's usually the other way around, and I don't like it this way . : p

I know the feeling of so much to get done. Its crunch time for the Boy Scout movie and I have a project that is coming due by mid March. And I havent even started it yet. I as well dont like being on the pressure end of things, but hey, whatever gets it done.

I also am going to be doing a major move of gear in here and thats going to take at least 2 weeks to get done. Lots of cable to re-run.

Oh yeah, moving a chunk of the studio is always a good time . This isn't the same 'move of gear' you mentioned way-way back, is it ? Well, good luck with that, and the Scout-film .

I took today off... maybe I'll be motivated enough to perform a few tests, switch some cards around, reinstall drivers, etc... eh, we'll see .

No its not the same. At first it was just going to be re-doing the racks to be more accomodating for the gear I use more often. Now it is going to be completely moving the bigger rack out of a corner, moving the large speakers into the corners. Installing a large bookcase from floor to ceiling to accomadate about 600 pieces of vinyl and some gear. Which will require the removall of a small bookcase and wall shelves. As well as moving guitar hooks, Auralex, pictures and various crap. Then re-running all the cable from the large rack to desk, the small rack and speakers. Then its on to clean out the closet to make room for the crap that will need to be moved off the floor and from the other shelves.

I am not looking forward to it at all. Oh and did I actually type 2 weeks? I musta been nuts, more like 2 months at least.
