really new at this

you know i really dont know where i would post a question i have seeing that this is my first time one this site. ill post it here and hope someone will get back to me on it at crls_mejias88@yahoo.com. I am very new to recording equipment, been a musician for about 4 years now but recording is still kinda gray area to me i recently got the omega lexicon home studio i did all the installations as the books said and started a new project set the ASIO and i still seem to be stuck on the input/output area i think, because i plug in and dont pick up any sound, when i set a new track its as if there is no sound even coming through i realize that this could be various factors causing this but if you can ball park it for me or give me your ideas and input on it, it would at least narrow down my options or hopefully solve them. thanks yosh
